Bing keyword research helps you discover what people search for on Bing and where your website already appears. By comparing those two views, you can identify existing pages worth improving and relevant topics that deserve new content.
SourcetoMCP connects Bing Webmaster Tools to your AI assistant. You can request keyword demand, related searches and your site’s performance, then turn the returned figures into a prioritised content plan.
The useful starting point is understanding what each report measures.
What data should you use for Bing keyword research?
Bing Webmaster Tools provides keyword research and reports about your website’s search performance. Keyword research describes search demand. Website performance describes the visibility and clicks your site receives. Bing Webmaster Tools overview.
SourcetoMCP exposes four relevant operations:
| Report | What it tells you | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Keyword statistics | Bing-wide keyword impressions in weekly history | Check demand and changes over time |
| Related keywords | Related terms and impressions for a requested period | Expand a relevant topic |
| Query statistics | Your site’s clicks, impressions and positions by query | Find existing visibility you can improve |
| Page statistics | Your site’s clicks, impressions and positions by page | Identify pages for investigation |
Keep the source and period beside every number. A weekly Bing keyword figure and a monthly Google estimate describe different datasets.
Start with the queries already finding your website
Existing visibility gives you a practical place to begin.
Connect Bing Webmaster Tools to SourcetoMCP, then ask your assistant:
Retrieve the most recent available query statistics for my connected website. Show the dates covered, clicks, impressions, CTR and average impression position. Identify commercially relevant queries with substantial impressions and relatively few clicks. Disclose missing data and any row-limit warnings.
SourcetoMCP returns Bing query statistics in weekly buckets. The operation retrieves available history and keeps the most recent rows within its limit.
That limit counts rows, rather than distinct weeks. A large website may have many queries for the same week, so ask the assistant to check the actual coverage before comparing periods.
Look for queries closely related to your product, especially where you already have a page that answers the searcher’s question.
Quantify an opportunity without inventing a forecast
Suppose a query generated the following results over a set of complete weeks.
Hypothetical example:
| Measure | Value |
|---|---|
| Your site’s impressions | 4,000 |
| Clicks | 40 |
| Current CTR | 1% |
| Scenario CTR | 1.5% |
| Clicks at the scenario CTR | 60 |
| Additional clicks in that scenario | 20 |
The calculation is:
4,000 × (1.5% − 1%) = 20 additional clicks
The 1.5% figure is a scenario you have chosen. It does not predict the outcome. Rankings, competing results and search intent can all affect CTR.
The calculation helps you assess scale. You can then decide whether the possible benefit justifies updating the page.
A small, highly relevant opportunity can deserve attention when the query closely matches what your product does.
Check Bing-wide demand for relevant topics
Your site’s query report only covers searches where it received impressions. Broader keyword research helps you explore topics beyond that existing visibility.
Choose a specific seed term related to your product or service.
For example:
Check Bing keyword statistics for “GA4 audit checklist” in the United States, using English. Return the latest 12 available weekly observations, with their dates. Show strict-match impressions and broad-match impressions separately. Explain any missing weeks or coverage limits.
SourcetoMCP’s keyword statistics operation accepts a keyword, country and language. It returns the available weekly history up to the requested row limit. It does not accept a custom date range for this particular report. Microsoft’s GetKeywordStats API reference.
Keep strict-match and broad-match impressions separate. They represent different matching scopes and should not be added together as a total.
Use the dates to judge whether demand appears consistent, seasonal or concentrated in a short period.
Decide whether to update a page or write a new one
Before creating a new article, review your existing content and Bing page statistics.
Ask:
Compare these keyword groups with our existing articles and product pages. Recommend an update where a page already answers the same intent. Suggest a new page where the intent is distinct. Explain how each recommendation relates to our product.
Bing query statistics and page statistics are separate reports in SourcetoMCP. They do not establish an exact query-to-page relationship by themselves.
Treat a proposed page match as something to verify by inspecting the content and search results.
Your content plan should record the target query, supporting terms, evidence of demand, existing page if relevant and the product action the reader could reasonably take.
Make the page useful for search and AI answers
Give the reader a direct answer near the beginning. Follow it with the process, a worked example and clear definitions for the figures you use.
For a research article, that means identifying the search engine, country, language and date range. For a comparison, it means explaining the practical differences that affect someone’s decision.
Those details make the content easier to interpret and reference. They do not guarantee inclusion in an AI answer, and Bing keyword impressions do not measure AI citations.

They are separate products with different reporting purposes. This workflow uses Bing Webmaster Tools operations available through SourcetoMCP.
It does not provide Microsoft Advertising Keyword Planner’s paid-search forecasts or bid estimates.
Start with the data you already have. Connect Bing Webmaster Tools to SourcetoMCP, identify a relevant query with existing impressions and investigate the page that could serve it better.
