How to Connect Search Console to Gemini?
Published September 27, 2026 · Written by Aanart

This is a two-part setup: first link Search Console to SourcetoMCP like any other source, then add SourcetoMCP itself as a custom app inside Gemini. Once both are done, Gemini can pull real clicks, impressions, CTR and position data straight from your verified sites instead of guessing. For what the connector covers, see the Google Search Console MCP server page.
Before you start
You'll need a SourcetoMCP account with at least one brand created, a Google account with owner or full access on at least one verified Search Console property, and Gemini access through a personal Google account. Custom apps in Gemini need a personal account, not a Workspace or school account, and Google also restricts them to accounts 18 and over, located in the US, with the language set to English and Keep Activity turned on.
Connect Search Console to SourcetoMCP
- 1From your dashboard, go to
Connectors→Add a connection. - 2Find the Google Search Console card and select Connect.
- 3Sign in with the Google account that has access to the property you want. This opens Google's own consent screen on accounts.google.com and asks you to approve read-only access to your Search Console data.
- 4Back in SourcetoMCP, choose which verified site(s) to connect, then confirm. Each one shows up on your Connections page.
Add SourcetoMCP as a custom app in Gemini
- 1In SourcetoMCP, open
Connect an agentfrom the dashboard sidebar and copy your server address (it looks likehttps://sourcetomcp.com/api/mcp). - 2In Gemini, open Settings & help, then Connected Apps.
- 3Under Custom apps, choose Add a custom app and paste in your server address.
- 4When prompted, approve the Authorization request to access SourcetoMCP.
- 5Start a new chat. Gemini asks for your approval the first time it calls a SourcetoMCP tool, then reconnects on its own after that.
If Add a custom app doesn't appear, it's almost always the eligibility restrictions above, not a problem with SourcetoMCP itself. Double check the signed-in account is personal (not Workspace or school), 18 or over, located in the US, set to English, with Keep Activity on.
Once approved, the connection appears under Active connections on the Connect an agent page in SourcetoMCP, so you can see exactly what has access at any time.
Ask Gemini about your search performance
Once it's added, SourcetoMCP is available to Gemini in any conversation, there is no separate toggle to switch on per chat. Gemini discovers the tools the server exposes and calls them the same way it uses any of its other connected apps.
The connector covers four things: search performance (clicks, impressions, CTR and average position by date, query, page, country or device), submitted sitemap status, real-time index status for a single URL, and the list of properties your account can access. Try something like:
- 1
Break down clicks and average position by device for the last 28 days. - 2
Which queries are ranking on page one but losing clicks month over month? - 3
Check whether /blog is indexed, and what canonical URL Google picked for it.
Search Console's own numbers usually run a day or two behind, so a report for today or yesterday can look thin. That's the source data, not a sign anything is broken.
Troubleshooting
My site isn't in the list when connecting: the signed-in Google account isn't a verified owner or user of that property in Search Console. Add the account under Search Console's own Settings → Users and permissions, then reconnect.
Add a custom app doesn't show up under Connected Apps: Google limits custom apps to personal Google accounts, age 18 and over, located in the US, language set to English, with Keep Activity turned on. Check each of those before assuming something is broken.
Gemini says it can't find the tool or has no data: check the app still shows as connected under Settings & help → Connected Apps. If it does, confirm the connection still shows under Active connections in SourcetoMCP, then remove and re-add it to trigger a fresh approval.
Revoking access
You can disconnect from either side. In SourcetoMCP, remove the site from your Connections page, or revoke Gemini's access entirely from the Connect an agent page. In Gemini, open Settings & help → Connected Apps and remove it.
